A funeral without a corpse. Extraordinary bungling

A curious fact was brought to light on Wednesday at Bedwyn, Wilts, where an empty coffin was interred in the parish churchyard by the clergyman with a religious service, the corpse being afterwards found in Hungerford Workhouse.

The grave was then re-opened, the body placed in the coffin, and the service repeated.
