An extraordinary scene witnessed at Boulogne last night is reported from Dover.
A fisher lad fell into the harbour. His cries brought a fisherman, who jumped in, and held the lad up.
Immediately afterwards another man followed, but seeing that he was not only unable to swim, but drunk, three others leapt in.
There were now six persons struggling in the pool, and only two of those able to swim well.
The screaming of women, however, attracted others, and a boat being launched, all were saved.
